When I was confronted with my autoimmune disease Alopecia, not only my life was turned upside down, but also that of my partner. It was hard for me, but just as hard for him. Suddenly he had a ‘other girlfriend’; my appearance had of course changed enormously due to the hair loss, but mentally I had also received a big blow. My self-image was quite damaged, confidence in my body was gone and I could no longer identify with my new appearance. We both had to learn to accept the situation. Despite everything, he has always been there for me through thick and thin. I am so grateful for his unending support, his strength and faith in me. Our relationship is stronger than ever. This painting is an ode to my beloved. Much love to him!
